These 15 Experiences Of Growing Up Gay Are All Of Us

Unlike most of your peers, when growing up gay or lesbian, bisexual or pansexual, you’re mostly surrounded by heterosexual friends and family. Even if you’re out and proud now there was probably a time when you had to hide your identity from the world around you. This may have lead to some hilarious or heartbreaking moments, some of which are expressed below. I’m sure many of these sentiments will feel familiar! Here’s to everyone #GrowingUpGay – and to those of us who are still figuring out how to be LGBT adults! 😉

1. The admiration

2. The realization

3. The denial

4. The sing-along

5. The panic

6. The sleepover

7. When you have to be prepared

8. The awkwardness

9. When everyone else ‘saw’ it coming…

10. When your birth control method is “lesbianism”

11. The stereotyping

12. The assumptions

13. The discomfort

14. Holding it in

15. Well what does a gay look like anyway? 😀
